“I was a fall down blackout drunk. No self-esteem, no self-respect. I felt that the world passed me by and that I was unworthy of life because I was such an alcoholic… The way I drank and the way I pushed people away was shattering, it shattered my soul and after alcoholism treatment here at Ventura Recovery Center I got my soul back.”     -Tom | Ventura Recovery Center Client

DO YOU WANT TO STOP DRINKING ALCOHOL?

If you are trying to quit drinking, it can seem impossible.

We know because we have been where you are.

Going into alcoholism treatment sounds scary. We at Ventura Recovery Center are in recovery too, so we know what it takes to achieve long term sobriety. We have years of experience helping others combat alcoholism. Time spent in our inpatient alcohol treatment rehab center can save your life, restore your family and liberate you from the ruthless cycle of addiction.  Our expertise and support can pave the way to a new life for you and your family.

If you develop craving after your first drink and cannot stop you may be addicted to alcohol. Also, if you try to abstain from drinking (not drink at all) but cannot, you may be an alcoholic.

The important thing to remember is there is nothing to be ashamed of. Environmental factors like stress and cultural or family dynamics can lead to alcoholism. It is also believed that genetics can be a factor. If your parents or siblings have a drinking problem, you are 3 to 4 times more likely to develop alcoholism as well.

ALCOHOLISM TREATMENT: WHAT CAN I EXPECT?

First: Medically Supervised Alcohol Detox

Alcoholism is a complex, chronic disease. That means alcohol treatment needs to address both the physical and psychological causes and effects. Professional treatment is often necessary to counteract the effects of long term alcohol abuse.

Alcohol detox is the first crucial step towards controlling alcoholism. Alcohol detoxification needs to be medically supervised because the symptoms of withdrawal can be life-threatening.

At Ventura Recovery Center we  offer the best comprehensive alcohol detox program suited to your individual needs. Our detoxification program is JCAHO accredited and conforms to the highest medical standards. As toxins leave the body, our staff treats our clients for anxiety and sleeplessness. Withdrawal symptoms are diminished and you are allowed to rest in a quiet residential setting. Alcohol treatment is much more than physical alcohol detox. Our clinical staff provides therapy and emotional support. While detoxification can sound like a scary option, we make sure it is as comfortable as possible as you begin your new way of life.

The good news is that no matter how severe the problem may seem, most people with an alcohol use disorder can benefit from some form of treatment.

Next: Continued treatment

Successful alcohol treatment rehab continues after the detox phase. Our counseling staff focuses on giving you the emotional tools you need to GET YOUR LIFE BACK. You learn to make positive choices that foster personal growth and responsibility. Ventura Recovery Center is the best alcohol treatment center in the Los Angeles area. Our highly trained, caring staff provides you with more than just the basics. We prepare you to face the challenges that come with normal living with dignity and strength…sober. We teach you how to heal your family and personal relationships and give you coping tools you can use in any situation.

Many people struggle with staying sober after a 28 day stay at an alcohol rehabilitation center. That’s why we suggest alcohol treatment for 90 days or more. At Ventura Recovery Center we are proud of the fact that a significant number of our clients remain sober after 90 or more days of treatment. Unlike many addiction treatment facilities, we offer our clients the chance to stay longer periods of time like 90 days, 120 days, even longer. Long term treatment is proven to work. That’s why many of our clients choose long term options. After treatment, they go on to live life without the chaos that drugs and alcohol caused them or their loved ones.

After treatment, we don’t just say goodbye. We have a very active alumni community. The Conejo Valley has a particularly strong recovery community. Often, our clients decide to stay in the Thousand Oaks area after treatment. We have monthly alumni meetings where our clients can come together and share each others’ strength and hope in recovery. We are a family. When you come to stay with us, we consider you a part of our family too.

THE STAGES OF DRINKING

STAGE ONE:
FEELING GOOD

A person is introduced to alcohol (in some cultures this can happen at a relatively young age), and the person enjoys the happy feeling it produces. At this stage there is no emotional cost.

STAGE TWO:
SEEKING THE GOOD FEELING

A person will drink to regain that feeling of euphoria experienced in phase 1; the drinking will increase as more intoxication is required to achieve the same effect. Again at this stage, there are no significant consequences.

STAGE THREE:
DRINKING WITH PROBLEMS

There are physical and social consequences, i.e., hangovers, family problems, work problems, etc. A person will continue to drink excessively, disregarding the problems.

STAGE FOUR:
JUST PROBLEMS

Highly detrimental stage with a risk for premature death. As a person now drinks to feel normal, they block out the feelings of overwhelming guilt, remorse, anxiety, and shame they experience when sober.

ALCOHOLISM IS A DISEASE

As you can see, alcoholism is much more than just drinking too much. It is a chronic disease that destroys the body and the mind. It destroys families and dreams. It does not listen to reason. Often, no matter how dire the consequences, the alcoholic just cannot stop drinking. The good news is that much of the damage of prolonged drinking can be repaired. Families can come back together.
