Long Term Drug Rehab

Long Term Drug Addiction Treatment Has Proven To Be The Best Option For Meaningful, Lasting Sobriety.

30, 60, 90 Day Treatment & 6 Months To A Year

If you are trying to quit drinking, it can seem impossible.

We offer 30, 60 and 90 day treatment plans. While there is no hard and fast rule for length of drug addiction treatment, it has been proven that long term drug rehab is more successful than shorter term options. The right treatment length can be critical.

During that time, the client is able to medically recover. They receive the rest and care they need. Also, they also have the time to deal with underlying emotional issues in a protected environment, without the distractions of everyday life. With long term drug rehab, one learns to live without substance dependence. They build social connections, participate in activities that bolster their self-confidence, and learn the skills they need to cope in the world. The cycle of drug addiction can indeed be broken, if adequate time is taken for treatment.

Why Choose Long Term Drug Rehab?

Staying in treatment for the proper amount of time is crucial, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse. What is the proper amount of time to stay in drug rehabilitation center or alcohol treatment? Exact times vary among patients. It depends on the severity of the addiction, how long someone has been using drugs or alcohol, and physical and emotional well-being. One fact is true for all who struggle with addiction: longer terms of addiction treatment are definitely better. Research shows that at least 3 months (90 days) of intensive treatment is necessary to stop the cycle of addiction. In many cases people need even more than three months to learn coping skills, relapse prevention, and stabilize their thinking processes so that drugs and alcohol no longer have any appeal.

Addiction is a chronic illness. This means that it never really goes away. We are not cured of alcoholism or drug addiction any more that we are cured of diabetes or heart disease. We can, however, learn to manage the symptoms and learn to live life freely and happily without the urge to drink or take drugs. But, as we said before, this takes time. Individuals who leave treatment after 28 days or less are significantly more susceptible to relapse. This is a sure sign that the individual needs to re-enter treatment for drug addiction or alcoholism. With long term drug rehab, patients can stop the endless, debilitating loop of treatment, relapse, and more treatment. It is possible to enter treatment for substance abuse and achieve long-term sobriety. This is accomplished with long-term treatment.

What Is Long Term Drug And Alcohol Rehab Treatment?

Many people see the words “long term drug rehab” and they cringe. Visions of being cooped up in a hospital setting for weeks and months cloud the mind. The reality of long-term treatment couldn’t be farther from the truth. Most long-term programs offer a tiered system of treatment, starting with drug or alcohol detoxification, then to residential treatment, “partial hospitalization”, IOP, and finally after care. Each phase of treatment is less intensive than the last, until the client is ready to enter back into life with a new set of coping skills and motivations. Visit our blog to learn more.

Drug And Alcohol Detoxification

At this phase, the client is allowed to rest and heal the body that has been prey to addiction. Many facilities offer detox medications to ease withdrawal symptoms and calm the mind. This phase can last 3-14 days depending on the drugs used, length of addiction, and physical health. We offer detoxification treatment plans for both drug addiction and alcoholism.

Residential Treatment

Immediately after drug or alcohol detox, many programs offer residential treatment. Here, the client has more freedoms and can attend group and individual therapy, twelve step meetings, and life skills classes. In residential treatment, also called “inpatient drug rehab”, the client lives with others who are trying to stop the cycle of addiction themselves. Comradery and special bonds form at this stage, as we meet others like us and we no longer feel alone.

Partial Hospitalization

The word “hospitalization” can be a scary one. In many drug rehabs, this means quite the opposite. Even more freedoms are enjoyed at this phase. Many treatment centers allow the clients to use their phone at this stage. They can interact with family members and friends. Clients still attend therapy groups and life skills classes. The client at this phase has more than 30 days of sobriety and starts seeing the fog lift. With a clearer mind and healthier body, we start to see the gifts of sobriety. We are making new friends. We are processing past trauma and thought patterns that lead to our addictions. We are learning to spot the signs of pre-relapse thinking and are learning techniques to replace these thoughts and emotions with healthy choices. Our sobriety becomes important to us and we make conscious decisions to protect it.

Intensive Outpatient Program

IOP, short for Intensive Outpatient Program, is the next phase of long-term drug rehab. Clients attend group therapy, individual therapy, and alternative therapies like yoga and art. Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and EMDR are used to replace negative thinking and reactions with positive ones so we learn to make healthy choices. Life skills like relapse prevention, learning to set boundaries and practice self care are also discussed.

Alumni Support

A good drug and alcohol treatment center will offer comprehensive alumni programs. Continued communication and planned events to keep graduates connected and supported. If there is crisis or fear of relapse, the client can always contact the recovery center for help and guidance. The aftercare treatment keeps those in recovery connected with the local sober community. At Ventura Recovery Center, we have a monthly breakfast meeting. All our clients gather and mingle with our graduates. Whether they have one week or 6 years, all share their experience, have a meal together and strengthen the feeling of community support. Many of our clients find that they want to live in the Conejo Valley after they graduate. They stay, build families and careers, and help the newly sober clients at Ventura Recovery Center. It is a legacy that makes us proud of what we do. If you want to get sober and stay that way, the program at Ventura Recovery Center works. It has been proven time and time again.
