Hi I’m Stephen Michael Patrick a client at VRC.
I used to be a weekend drinker.
Something happened.
I started drinking a fifth of alcohol a day everyday for two years. Siblings found me out and got me into Siesta House, part of the VRC and it’s changed my life. Doing twelve step work. I think twelve step work would help anybody. Things have changed in my life. I’m more in contact with my higher power something that is just making me a better man. I’m happy. I’m looking forward to embracing life.VRC is something I would recommend for everybody. It’s probably the best rehab out there from what I’ve heard from that have been another rehab centers. They really have changed my life. I feel great. When I came in I was depressed. I was just feeling so terrible. I didn’t think I would ever have any hope or I’d ever get better. I would suggest anybody to look into VRC if you’re thinking about getting sober. AA is definitely a necessity being a big part of VRC.
One of the things I’ve been doing to help my sobriety is get a release out of writing music again which I haven’t done for 18 years. I’m doing it again, starting to record with some people that I know that were in previous bands. We’re putting out our project called STATUSFACTION and I would say maybe a month from now, you can look on YouTube for STATUSFACTION and you’ll see me Stephen Michael Patrick and other people in my project and you’ll hear some really radical cool tunes that are wide variety of different kinds of music.
One of the things that happened to me while I was drinking a fifth of alcohol a day was I abandoned God. Abandoned a lot of my friends but God was a big part of my life and I found him again when I got into rehab. God answered my prayers. He brought me out of a very horrible state to the state I’m in now. Of course doing the twelve step work was terribly important as well as going to AA meetings. The people and staff at VRC really cared about me and no matter how hard a case I was to deal with…I’m not a mean person…just somebody that really had no hope no matter what they tried to do to help me.
So now I’m happy. I have purpose.
There are things I want to do besides just playing music. I want to play golf again. I have dreams about having a profession where I’m involved in helping people like what they’re doing here at VRC. I love people and I want to do anything I can to help all my brothers sisters here on the planet.
I was a very selfish person. I loved people I and I helped people here and there but really deep down I was number one. If you can put other people ahead of yourself I think God really sees that and he brings miracles to your life. So try to get sober any way you can but VRC is probably in my opinion the best place to go if you really want to get sober. If you want people to really care and genuinely love you… they might not be able to say they love you but you will be able to tell by the way they look at you and the pats on back and things like that.
